Anxious to get outside after two three hour flights, Thunderbird Falls Trail was our first destination on our trip to Anchorage, Alaska.
Marked “Easy” on AllTrails, this 1.8 mile out and back trail started off steep and some light rain started as soon as we left the car. Along the way we met a couple and their two dogs. The husband fancied himself a daredevil shooter, climbing the slippery boulder rocks above the river to get a better view of the waterfall. Not to be outdone, and despite my pleas not to go, Daniel followed. A few minutes later he came back mostly unscathed. We left before the couple, never knowing if they managed to climb down successfully.
